SPEARHEAD consortium members actively participated in the SOLER User Workshop, held from 30 June to 3 July 2026 at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), Germany. The workshop brought together experts in solar physics, heliophysics, and space weather to explore advanced data analysis tools and methodologies for studying solar eruptions and their effects throughout the heliosphere.
The consortium was represented in person by Alexis Rouillard (IRAP), Bernd Heber (CAU Kiel), and Athanasios Papaioannou (NOA), while additional SPEARHEAD partners participated online, ensuring broad engagement across the consortium.
Participation in the workshop directly supports SPEARHEAD’s mission to improve the understanding, analysis, and exploitation of high-energy particle observations for space weather applications. Discussions and hands-on sessions on advanced analysis tools, coordinated observations, and data products provided valuable insights that contribute to the project’s activities on the specification and interpretation of solar energetic particle (SEP) measurements.
The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for SPEARHEAD to strengthen collaboration with the wider European heliophysics community and complementary Horizon Europe initiatives such as SOLER. By exchanging expertise, sharing experiences, and identifying synergies between projects, the consortium reinforced its commitment to open scientific collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of innovative approaches that advance next-generation space weather research, improve Europe’s capabilities in space weather monitoring and forecasting, and foster strong scientific and technical partnerships across the field.
