This 4th day of the MS course focused on numerical simulations. The problem of acceleration and transport of solar energetic particles is very complex, and has not yet been completely solved. However, there are many models used to simulate these processes. They differ in the approach chosen to describe the problem (kinetic or fluid), their scales of application (level of physical description), the way they solve the particle transport equations, etc.

Prof. Alexander Afanasiev, an expert in the field, introduced us to a number of them and explained their theoretical operation. This lecture was followed by exercises in the afternoon.
