Following on MS courses — Day 5

2025-05-17

This 5th day of MS course was dedicated to Space-borne observation methods for energetic particles. The lectures was divided in two parts.

The first was delivered by Prof. Rami Vainio from the University of Turku and introduced basic principles and detection methods for very high energetic particles (>100MeV/n).

The second, leaded by Prof. Bernd Heber from the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel (CAU), focused on measurements of ions. They presented the different measurement methods and instruments currently in use, as well as their operation and technical specificities depending on the energy they measure.

This course, like all the others, was followed by a series of dedicated exercises in the afternoon.
