Following on MS courses — Day 9 !

2025-05-28

The final day of the MS course was dedicated to radiation effects and probabilistic modeling.

Prof. Rami Vainio kicked off the session with an introduction to probabilistic fluence models. Then, Dr. Athanasios Papaioannou provided a comprehensive overview of how probability theory can be applied to predict solar energetic particles using the PROSPER model—first with flares, then with CMEs, and finally by combining both. He also explained how to interpret the results effectively.

The course concluded with a final hands-on exercise in the afternoon, where students had the opportunity to run the PROSPER model themselves.
