Today kicked off our intensive Master’s-level course “High-energy particles in the heliosphere”, which runs throughout May at the University of Turku in Finland. This course is produced and operated by our Horizon Europe project SPEARHEAD, and students – in person or online – will earn ECTS credits upon completion.

This morning, Professor Rami Vainio presented the course program and an introduction to the subject with key background concepts. The ~50h combine theoretical lectures and exercises with practical sessions, and cover topics such as transport and acceleration of charged particles in the heliosphere, numerical modeling, experimental methods, solar energetic particle events, cosmic rays, radiation effects, etc.

We look forward to a month of new perspectives in solar and space physics!
