SPEARHEAD at ESWW2025 – Umeå, Sweden

2025-10-30

The SPEARHEAD project made a strong presence at this year’s European Space Weather Week (ESWW2025) with multiple presentations and contributions highlighting our work.

Our poster and oral presentations showcased progress in advancing data analysis tools and improving cross-calibration of energetic particle instruments, together with scientific.

A major highlight was Topical Discussion Meeting 10 (TDM10), where we explored the future of high energy solar energetic particle (SEP) observations, SEP prediction efforts and validation including machine learning (ML) applications. The panel featured leading experts:

  • Bernd Heber (Christian-Albrechts-University zu Kiel)
  • Phil Quinn (NASA)
  • Mirko Stumbo (IAPS -INAF)
  • Piers Jiggens (ESA)

Their discussion emphasized how the initiative bridges scientific insight and technical innovation for high energy particles contributing in space weather research and operational forecasting.
