SPEARHEAD Interim Report Meeting #2

2026-03-26

The Horizon Europe project SPEARHEAD (SPEcification, Analysis & Re-calibration of High Energy pArticle Data) has successfully completed its second Interim Report Meeting (IRM2), marking another major milestone in the project’s lifecycle.

Building on the strong foundation established during the first interim report review and the periodic review, the consortium presented significant progress across all work packages. The project has now reached approximately 70% completion, reflecting the sustained effort and effective collaboration among partners.

The evaluation outcome of IRM2 was highly positive, with the External Reviewer acknowledging both the scientific quality of the work and the steady advancement toward the project’s objectives. This reinforces SPEARHEAD’s position as a key initiative in high-energy particle research within heliophysics.

SPEARHEAD continues to deliver on its mission to enhance the analysis, calibration, and interpretation of high-energy particle data. By combining observations from major space missions and ground-based instruments, the project is contributing to a deeper understanding of:

  • Particle acceleration mechanisms
  • Release processes from solar and astrophysical events
  • Transport of energetic particles through space

The consortium is also progressing toward delivering consolidated datasets, advanced methodologies, and open-access tools, which will support the wider scientific community and enable breakthrough discoveries.

With the majority of the project now completed, the consortium is entering its final phase with a clear focus on:

  • Scientific exploitation of results
  • Maximizing impact and usability of developed tools and datasets
  • Dissemination of key findings to the broader community

The SPEARHEAD team remains fully aligned and motivated to ensure a strong and impactful completion of the project.
