We are pleased to announce the SPEARHEAD School that will take place from 04-08 September 2026 at Kiel, Germany – hosted by the Christian Albrechts Universitat zu Kiel (CAU).
The School will provide hands-on training with SPEARHEAD tools and data, offering participants a practical and interactive learning experience. It builds on the MSc course developed within the project last year, for which the teaching materials have been openly published. In this way, the school offers a structured yet accessible introduction to the methodologies and resources developed by SPEARHEAD, while strengthening user engagement and community building.
The School is open to students and early-career researchers, as well as other interested participants. We warmly encourage students to register and benefit from this opportunity to develop new skills and engage with the SPEARHEAD community. Limited financial support will be available for students upon request, in order to facilitate broad participation. The deadline for financial support applications is 30 April 2026. Interested students are kindly asked to register using the relevant form.
A key component of the School will be hands-on student exercises, allowing participants to actively apply the concepts and tools introduced during the sessions. The SPEARHEAD School is offered as an elective module. It awards 3 ECTS credits based on participation, group project work, and a short report or presentation.
The Scientific Program of the school is available here.
The School will be organized as a hybrid event, allowing both in-person and remote participation, in order to ensure broad accessibility. In addition to the scientific program, the school will include a social component, featuring an excursion to Laboe and a visit to Kiel Rönne, providing opportunities for informal interaction and networking.
Following the school, Workshop 3 will take place, bringing together a broader group of scientists to present and discuss the latest SPEARHEAD results and developments. The best student presentation from the School will also be presented during the Workshop.
We look forward to welcoming you to this engaging and collaborative learning experience.
