Information
Usage
Users can filter the events using the form below.
Columns/Fields
Columns
- Event ID: unique identifier for each entry
- Spacecraft/GCR Detector: satellite performing in situ measurements / detector performing GCR measurements
- Borders: type of the border selection (extended, inner, optimal), where it is also possible to have ‘test’ for events that the observer wants to highlight or not include in the analysis
- Distance: heliocentric distance at which the measurements were performed in au
- Latitude: carrington latitude at which the measurements were performed in degrees
- Longitude: carrington longitude at which the measurements were performed in degrees
Fields
Time
- Start: the start time of the event corresponding to the starting border of the measurement/fit
- End: the end time of the event corresponding to the ending border of the measurement/fit
- FD Minimum: time corresponding to the minimum of FD with respect to the onset (starting border)
Velocity
- Average: average plasma flow speed in the interval between selected borders
- Median: median plasma flow speed in the interval between selected borders
- Standard Deviation: standard deviation of plasma flow speed in the interval between selected borders
- Lead: plasma flow speed at the leading edge, i.e. at the start time
- Center: plasma flow speed in the center of the interval between selected borders
- Trail: plasma flow speed at the trailing edge, i.e. at the end time
- Upstream: ‘quiet solar wind’ plasma flow speed upstream of ICME arrival, calculated as average in the interval selected by the observer
Magnetic Field
- Peak: maximum total magnetic field measured in the interval between selected borders
- Average: average total magnetic field in the interval between selected borders, in nT
- Median: median total magnetic field in the interval between selected borders, in nT
- Standard Deviation: standard deviation of total magnetic field in the interval between selected borders, in nT
Amplitude
- Measured: FD amplitude measured from the onset to the minimum of FD (i.e. using standard FD amplitude determination)
- Best Fit: FD amplitude determined based on ForbMod best-fit
- MSE: mean square error of the fit, i.e. goodnes-of-fit
- Fit Type: observers characterisation of the fit based on visual inspection (good, asymmetric, few-data-points, large scatter, under-recovery, substructuring)
Comments
- Notes: any notes given by the observer, typically contains information whether event is present in some of the catalogs: C for Cane+1997; B for Blanco+2013; BS for Bothmer & Schwenn, 1998; R for Richardson (2014); NC for Nieves-Chinchilla+2018; RC for Richardson & Cane (2010); CS=compound stream, SMFR=small magnetic flux rope
- Quality Index: quality index, based on observers remark on data gaps, interactions, small magnetic flux ropes (SMFR) lack of depression or GCR increase [1-no comment, well defined single event; 2-interaction reported (CME or HSS or both); 3-bad fit/data gap reported; 4-smfr; 5-exotic event (e.g. GCR increase; strange offset or clearly MO but no FD, or shock-sheath only)]
